Plywood offers greater impact resistance, is more aesthetically pleasing & more water resistant.

We manufacture bespoke wooden shipping crates and plywood cases to your exact specification at our 300,000 sq ft facility in Bideford, Devon — protecting high-value, fragile and irregular loads in transit and storage. Every crate can be ISPM15 heat-treated and certified for export, and we supply the internal bracing, fixings and protective packaging to secure your products inside.
Our shipping crates are built in Bideford, Devon and go anywhere in the UK. Across the West Country they travel on our own HGV fleet, loaded at the factory and delivered by our own drivers, so oversized and one-off cases arrive in one piece rather than being re-handled through a pallet network. For the rest of the UK, and for delivery direct to a freight forwarder or port, we use dedicated carriers. Wherever the crate is going, it is designed, built and, where solid timber is used, heat treated to ISPM 15 on one site, so there is one supplier and one point of contact.
As well as plywood and solid timber we build OSB shipping crates. OSB (oriented strand board) is the economical option: it uses more of the tree, so it is an efficient use of sustainably sourced material, and it gives a strong, rigid case at a lower price than plywood. Plywood offers greater impact resistance, better water resistance and a cleaner finish, so it suits higher-value or repeat-use cases. Both are processed board, so neither needs ISPM 15 heat treatment for export, although any solid timber battens or skid bases in the build do, and we treat and mark those under FC0542. Tell us what is going in the crate and where it is going and we will recommend the right board.
