APS Packaging collects and recycles used and surplus pallets across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset on our own fleet, keeping timber in use and out of landfill (ISO 14001). The natural next step: a dependable, made-to-spec new-pallet supply so you’re never short.
Our lorries are on the road across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset every working day delivering new pallets, crates and packaging. Pallet collection uses the empty leg of those journeys: the driver drops your order and loads your surplus or used pallets for the trip home. For customers on our regular routes that means a collection can be set up as a standing arrangement rather than a one-off favour, and for one-off clearances we quote a collection on its own.
Rough count, the sizes (UK 1200 x 1000, Euro 1200 x 800, others), whether they are stacked and accessible by forklift, and where you are.
If you are on one of our runs we add you to the round. If not, we quote a dedicated collection or suggest a drop at Bideford.
Our own drivers and our own HGVs, so pallets are handled once and stacked properly rather than thrown into a skip lorry.
Sound pallets are graded and reconditioned for reuse. Damaged ones are broken down for reusable boards and clean waste timber goes to recycling.
Grading is done at Bideford, not on your yard, so the driver does not stand there sorting. Anything that can go back into service is repaired and sold as used and reconditioned pallets; anything that cannot is dismantled and the good boards reused, which is why our reconditioned stock is as consistent as it is.
Reuse is now the packaging policy direction of travel. The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation sets reuse and recycled-content targets that flow down to anyone shipping into Europe, and UK Extended Producer Responsibility puts a cost on packaging that reaches the waste stream. A pallet that goes round twice halves its share of that. Collection also keeps timber in use rather than in a skip, which is part of how we hold our ISO 14001 certification and one of the numbers we report on for customers who need it for their own sustainability figures.
For most customers the practical reason is simpler: the same lorry that brings the new pallets takes the old ones away, so there is one supplier, one delivery slot and no skip hire.
For a collection on an existing route, no fixed minimum, but we do need the pallets stacked and forklift-accessible. For a dedicated collection off our routes there is a minimum load that we confirm when we quote.
It depends on the type, condition and quantity. Sound standard sizes in volume have a value; damaged or odd sizes are usually a free collection. We tell you which before the lorry comes.
Our own fleet covers Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset. Beyond that we can sometimes arrange a backload but it is case by case.
Yes, and that is the arrangement most of our regular customers have: a standing new-pallet supply with returns taken on each delivery. It is the simplest way to keep the yard clear.
