When a stock pallet is the wrong size, the wrong strength or the wrong shape, we design and make one that fits. Any footprint, any load, made in the UK since 2000.
APS Packaging designs and manufactures bespoke wooden pallets at our 300,000 sq ft site in Bideford, Devon. A standard 1200 x 1000 or Euro pallet is right for most goods, and we make thousands of them. But a coil, a cabinet, a sack of granules or a machine base is not most goods. For those we design a custom pallet around the product, the load and the way it will be handled, cut it on CNC and optimising saws, and deliver it on our own fleet across the South West or by carrier anywhere in the UK.
Long, narrow, oversize or oddly shaped goods sit better on a pallet cut to their own dimensions, with the deck boards where the load actually lands.
Machinery, castings, coils and dense goods need thicker decks, more bearers and often bearers on edge. We size every member for the weight and the way it is carried.
Racked loads and automated lines put the load on the bearers, not the floor. Bottom-board layout, bearer spacing and entry direction are designed to suit the system.
Export pallets are ISPM 15 heat treated in our own kilns and stamped FC0542, and are often built with a matching crate or top cap.
Tell us the footprint you need, what is going on the pallet and how heavy it is, whether it will be lifted by forklift, pallet truck or crane, and whether it will be stacked, racked or shipped overseas. From that our team specifies the deck, the bearers and the fixings. Bearers go on edge as standard so the fork pockets are deep and clear; deck boards are 16 mm or 22 mm for general loads and thicker for point loads; block pallets give four-way entry where a pallet truck has to get in from the side.
Where you need it, we supply a specification sheet with a calculated safe working load for the design, so your goods-in, racking supplier and freight forwarder all know what the pallet will carry. Timber can be supplied kiln-dried where weight, moisture or appearance matter.

ISPM 15 heat-treated pallets in standard or bespoke sizes, sized to the container or the aircraft pallet.
There is no fixed minimum. We build small runs for one-off machines and prototypes as well as scheduled supply in the thousands, and we supply to trade and business customers only.
Yes. For a bespoke design we can calculate a safe working load from the timber sections and layout and issue it on a specification sheet with the drawing.
Yes. Heavy-duty pallets use thicker decks, more bearers and larger bearer sections, and can be built as skids for machinery with bolt-down positions through the deck.
Only if they are leaving the UK. Any pallet can be ISPM 15 heat treated and stamped in our own kilns, and we will build export pallets from kiln-dried timber where the shipment calls for it.
